HOW DOES A MANUSCRIPT ASSESSMENT WORK?

The assessment works in two parts. 

- First, a thorough look at the script from a picture book author's eye. 

- Second: assessing things from an illustration angle, this is important as beginning author's frequently forget that the pictures are also telling the story which results in over-written manuscripts that publishers easily reject. 

You will be provided with a written assessment that will provide you with the following:

• Sharpening your story, including pacing, clarity of voice, and word count
• Individual page break downs from both a story and illustration angle
• Target audience alignment
• A structured roadmap for upcoming revisions

The completed assessment will cover a minimum of two pages at a cost of $200

Getting a picture book accepted for publication is hard, but not impossible. To succeed your submission should be as close to being finished as possible.
